1. Our Mission & Values

Lok Setu is a public service initiative aimed at bridging the gap between government schemes, administrative mechanisms, and welfare systems for the common citizen. Our code of conduct is built upon our core values:

We believe that when citizens are participatory and the system is sensitive, only then does society become empowered. Lok Setu is a shared commitment to building a transparent, accountable, and better India through public participation.

2. User Responsibilities

All users of Lok Setu services, including website visitors, program participants, and community members, are expected to:

  • Provide accurate information when submitting inquiries, complaints, or applications
  • Use respectful language in all communications with Lok Setu representatives and community members
  • Respect privacy and confidentiality of other users and sensitive information
  • Use services for intended purposes only, as described in our service guidelines
  • Comply with applicable laws and regulations while using our services
  • Report concerns or violations of this code through proper channels

Users participating in our training programs, camps, or awareness campaigns must adhere to additional guidelines provided for those specific activities.

3. Prohibited Behaviors

The following behaviors are strictly prohibited when interacting with Lok Setu services:

  • Submitting false, misleading, or malicious information through our platforms
  • Using abusive, harassing, threatening, or discriminatory language
  • Impersonating Lok Setu representatives, government officials, or other users
  • Attempting to disrupt or interfere with our services, website, or programs
  • Sharing confidential information obtained through Lok Setu without authorization
  • Using Lok Setu services for commercial purposes without explicit permission
  • Violating intellectual property rights of Lok Setu or third parties
  • Engaging in any form of corruption, bribery, or unethical influence

Important: Violations of these prohibitions may result in suspension of services, termination of account access, or legal action as appropriate.

4. Communication Guidelines

Effective communication is essential to our mission. We expect all interactions to follow these guidelines:

Clear Expression

Express concerns, questions, or feedback clearly and constructively to facilitate understanding and resolution.

Active Listening

Listen attentively to understand different perspectives before responding or taking action.

Respectful Dialogue

Engage in discussions with respect for differing opinions, backgrounds, and experiences.

Confidentiality

Respect the privacy of personal information shared in communications unless disclosure is required by law.

5. Service-Specific Conduct

Additional conduct expectations for specific Lok Setu services:

  • Grievance Redressal System: Provide factual information when submitting complaints; do not misuse the system for harassment or false reporting
  • Training Programs: Attend sessions punctually, participate actively, and respect trainers and fellow participants
  • Document Assistance Camps: Bring genuine documents only; follow queue systems and instructions from volunteers
  • Awareness Campaigns: Engage constructively, share information accurately, and respect community norms
  • Digital Literacy Training: Use provided resources responsibly and help others learn in a supportive environment

Specific guidelines for each program are provided at the time of registration or participation.

6. Compliance & Enforcement

Lok Setu is committed to enforcing this Code of Conduct consistently and fairly:

  • All reported violations will be reviewed promptly and confidentially
  • Investigations will be conducted impartially with opportunity for all parties to share their perspective
  • Appropriate actions will be taken based on the severity and nature of the violation
  • Possible actions include warnings, temporary suspension, permanent termination of services, or legal reporting
  • Decisions may be appealed through designated channels within specified timeframes

We reserve the right to modify this Code of Conduct as needed to address emerging issues or changing circumstances.
